B. Louvre Pyramid

The Louvre Pyramid (1989) -- Ieoh Ming Pei

Ieoh Ming Pei’s insistence of total transparency in the Pyramid glass to preserve the structure of Louvre Palace when looked through by visitors had led to the innovation of a new type of glass specifically for the architectural masterpiece. Flaunting exceptional mechanical properties and high optical quality, the glass took two years to manufacture in a special furnace and was cleared of its iron oxides to avoid unwanted green/blue reflection. This "diamond glass" was also laminated to reduce the risk of injury by glass fragments if broken, the plastic coating retaining the shards.
